AEW Dynamite Results – August 7, 2024

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with the AEW American Championship Eliminator match between MJF and Kyle Fletcher.

AEW American Champion MJF defeated Kyle Fletcher in an Eliminator Match
Kyle Fletcher refuses to use the screwdriver from Don Callis against MJF. Friedman hits Fletcher with a low blow and a brainbuster to score the pinfall victory.
Will Ospreay is shown backstage breaking out of his locker room while inside the ring MJF attacks the referee and hits Fletcher with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Friedman bloodied Fletcher and tried to hit him with Tiger Driver ’91 but Ospreay gets to the ring just in time and MJF runs away. Callis and Ospreay argue as the doctor checks on Fletcher.

A video package played, hyping up the match between Jeff Jarrett and Bryan Danielson later tonight.

Mariah May defeated Viva Van
Mariah May hits Viva Van with Storm Zero to score the pinfall victory.
After the match, May is given a gift. May unwraps it and it’s a picture of Toni Storm holding her. The back of the picture reads “Die Mariah Die!”
Toni Storm shows up and the two women brawl before being separated by referees and security.

A video package plays, hyping up the TNT Championship match between Jack Perry and Darby Allin at AEW All In.

Darby Allin is backstage and responds to the Jack Perry video package. Allin says he didn’t light Jack Perry on fire when he had the chance so he doesn’t have an excuse not to show up at Wembley. Allin questions the last time Perry has shown up on TNT. Darby says Perry doesn’t have to sacrifice any more of his time, but he has to show up at Wembley.

Taz is removed from the commentary table as Chris Jericho joins the broadcast booth for the next match.
Katsuyori Shibata defeated Bryan Keith
Katsuyori Shibata locks Bryan Keith in the cross armbreaker to win the match via submission.
Chris Jericho and Big Bill attack Shibata after the match and it’s now a three-on-one attack. HOOK returns and saves Shibata and takes it to all three men before they run away.

Orange Cassidy is backstage with Renee Paquette. Paquette says the other members of The Conglomeration were unable to make it to Dynamite tonight due to travel issues. Cassidy says he’s still gonna face Roderick Strong, The Beast Mortos, and RUSH tonight as he found a couple of local guys who are eager to fight someone.

Hangman Page is backstage. Page says he wants to take everything away from Swerve Strickland but multiple dumbasses are getting in his way. Page says he will have what he wants.

Jim Ross had a sit-down interview with Swerve Strickland earlier today. Strickland says he’s beyond motivated by main eventing All In this year and says it means the world to him. Strickland says this path has changed him as an individual. Jim Ross asks Swerve if he has remorse for his past actions. Strickland says if you make enough noise people have to listen to him.
Ross says Danielson is wrestling this match like it’s his last one. Strickland says it’s more about pride for Danielson now, it’s about legacy. Strickland questions if the roles were reversed and if anyone would give a damn about him. Swerve says he doesn’t care about Danielson being a father or parent. Ross tells Strickland he thinks this will be the hardest match he’s ever had.
Strickland believes Danielson’s body won’t be able to hold up due to pain and injuries. Ross asks Swerve if he can beat Bryan Danielson. Strickland says he will and Danielson’s legacy will belong to him.

FTR and Orange Cassidy defeated Roderick Strong, The Beast Mortos, and RUSH
FTR hits RUSH with the Shatter Machine. Dax Harwood scores the pinfall victory for his team.
The Acclaimed come out but are stopped by security. Dax Harwood invites them to get into the ring so they all can fight. The four men end up brawling at ringside.

The Patriarchy are backstage. Christian Cage announces that there will be a match between House of Black and Bullet Club Gold on Collision. The winning team will face The Patriarchy for the AEW Trios Titles at All In. Cage reveals that he will be the special referee.

A video package plays, hyping up Hologram.

Kamille (w/ Mercedes Moné) defeated Clara Carter and Jazmyne Hao in a handicap match
Kamille wins in a quick squash match, pinning both women at the same time.
Mercedes Moné gets on the microphone and says The Young Bucks have suspended Britt Baker until All In so we won’t have to see her until then. Mercedes says Baker might be the first signee but she’s the best thing in AEW.
Tony Schiavone interrupts and says Tony Khan has overruled the suspension and Britt Baker is back. Britt Baker appears on the Tron and says when she makes a commitment to something, she sees it through to the end. Baker says when things get difficult Mercedes leaves. Baker says she’ll become TBS Champion at All In and be the first woman to beat Mercedes since she joined AEW.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat joins the commentary team for the main event.
Bryan Danielson defeated Jeff Jarrett in a No Disqualification Match
Bryan Danielson hits Jeff Jarrett with the Busaiku knee with a steel chair to score the pinfall victory.
Ricky Steamboat and Wheeler Yuta come out to check on Danielson after the match. Steamboat raises both Danielson and Jarrett’s hands before the two men hug after a hard-fought match.
Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana come out. Strickland says we just witnessed three legends of TBS programming in front of our eyes. Strickland names Steamboat, Jarrett, and himself. Swerve says the difference between them and Bryan is they’ve all been World Champions on TBS. Strickland says it’s going to be a great honor to retire him at All In.
Strickland asks Danielson how he’s feeling and says just imagine what he’ll do to him later this month. Swerve says he wants to be tested before All In as well and challenges Wheeler Yuta to a match next week. Strickland says he wants Danielson to have a front-row seat to see why he’s the most dangerous man in AEW. The two men face off as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.
