With Night of Champions now behind us, we look ahead to WWE’s next premium live event, that being Money In The Bank at the O2 Arena in London on July 1.
As with Clash at the Castle in Cardiff last year, the card will feature a hot crowd and likely a few names that will be right at home in front of the UK fans.
This will be the fourth international PLE for WWE in 2023 so far, so I have a decent reference for what the card may end up looking like.
So let’s take a look ahead at what London could expect when Money In The Bank crosses the Atlantic.
RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP – ASUKA (C) VS. BIANCA BELAIR
I could realistically see them holding off on the rematch until a later date, but I wanted one Women’s title match on this show
I really can not see ANYBODY for Rhea, so the rematch between Asuka and Bianca it is.
And while I could honestly see Bianca just taking the title back, I’d rather Asuka retained.
Asuka and IYO SKY are on the same brand, so that should be the title match at SummerSlam, while you could easily do Bianca vs Charlotte without a title.
They won’t do that, because it’s Charlotte.
But they COULD.
INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP – GUNTHER (C) VS. MATT RIDDLE
Who can forget WWE’s last PLE in the UK, where Gunther had one of the greatest matches in the history of the company?
Now we are coming back around, and there are plenty of options available for him, but it seems like Matt Riddle is the one.
Riddle and Gunther have begun a program recently, and that match taking place in the UK, where both men became big stars on the independents, would be rather fitting.
Gunther obviously keeps the title in a banger though.
ROMAN REIGNS & SOLO SIKOA VS. THE USOS
So I was torn between whether to go with this or with the Roman vs Jimmy title match, but I went for the tag team match.
The ending to Night of Champions was the latest major twist in the Bloodline tale, and at Money in the Bank, we will see the true next chapter.
If the destination for SummerSlam isn’t Cody vs Roman II, then I could absolutely see a four-way between all Bloodline members going down there.
You can get away with Roman not competing in a title match on this show now there is a second world title that can be defended. Speaking of which…
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP – SETH ‘FREAKIN’ ROLLINS (C) VS. FINN BALOR
Picking an opponent for Seth wasn’t actually that easy, because there are really no options that are free right now.
I went with Finn Balor based off the face off between Rollins and the Judgment Day on the May 29 episode of Raw, since Seth pinned Priest in the main event rather than Finn.
Running back SummerSlam 2016 in a venue where they’d both be insanely over? Sounds like the move to me.
I thought Finn and Priest were being set up for a tag title match, but Owens and Zayn have seemingly moved on to other people now…
UNDISPUTED WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP – KEVIN OWENS & SAMI ZAYN (C) VS. IMPERIUM
All members of Imperium are set to be in action at Money In The Bank, with Kaiser and Vinci seemingly next in line to face off with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
This will be the biggest match of Imperium’s main roster career, in a country where they’re likely to be very over.
They won’t end up taking the titles home, but it’ll show the main roster crowd just who Kaiser and Vinci are.
The road to Owens and Zayn vs DIY at SummerSlam will continue!
WOMEN’S MONEY IN THE BANK – BECKY LYNCH VS. ZOEY STARK VS. RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ VS. ZELINA VEGA VS. IYO SKY VS. BAYLEY
So the women’s Money In The Bank is shaping up to be quite interesting.
As of this writing, nobody is confirmed for the match, but the three qualifiers we know are Becky Lynch vs Sonya Deville, Zelina Vega vs Lacey Evans and Zoey Stark vs Natalya.
Using logic and assuming that Becky, Zoey and Zelina are in the match, that leaves up three spots, which I imagine go to IYO SKY, Bayley and Raquel Rodriguez.
IYO is the obvious choice to win, but I think Damage CTRL stuff will prevent that, same with Zoey and Becky cancelling each other out, which means Raquel will win, because Triple H really likes her.
MEN’S MONEY IN THE BANK – SHINSUKE NAKAMURA VS. RICOCHET VS. CODY RHODES VS. LA KNIGHT VS. SANTOS ESCOBAR VS. AUSTIN THEORY
As for the men’s match, we officially know that Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakmura are in the match, with one of LA Knight or Montez Ford set to qualify on SmackDown.
The three remaining spots I have given to Austin Theory, last year’s winner who I couldn’t find a title match for on the show, Santos Escobar, and the American Nightmare himself, Cody Rhodes.
With Cody, you either have him win and challenge Roman at SummerSlam, or have Brock Lesnar cost him the match to set up their third match at SummerSlam.
In that scenario, who would win? Well, let me talk to ya…
