A major rematch featuring AEW star Bryan Danielson has now officially been announced for an upcoming New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) event.
With Danielson announcing in September 2023 that he had just one year left as a full-time wrestler, the popular star has wrestled a number of dream matches ahead of transitioning into a part-time performer.
Danielson notably faced off against NJPW’s Zack Sabre Jr in a technical wrestling showdown at AEW WrestleDream in October 2023, defeating Sabre with his Busaiku Knee.
Zack Sabre Jr has since protested that Danielson took the cheap way out by winning the match via pinfall, but more recently issued a challenge for another match during the January 5 New Year Dash show.
We now know when this rematch will take place, with NJPW announcing the match for the upcoming The New Beginning in Osaka show on February 11.
NJPW shared the following preview for the match:
A technical wrestling dream match taking place in Japan for the first time ever will pit Bryan Danielson against Zack Sabre Jr.
After ZSJ seemed to take Danielson’s mantle as the best technical wrestler in the world, a long overdue singles reunion between the two took place last September at AEW’s Wrestle Dream card.
Yet although the American Dragon was successful that night, he picked up victory with a knockout blow in the form of the Busaiku Knee.
Sabre has maintained that Danielson is unable to tap him out, and has insisted he will be the one to do so in Osaka. Just who can finally lay sole claim to the world’s best technician?
Danielson notably faced off against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 18, losing to the Rainmaker in singles action.
The New Beginning in Osaka will also feature Ospreay’s final match as a full-time NJPW star, before he officially joins AEW.
