A series of major announcements involving CM Punk were made during tonight’s July 22 episode of WWE Raw with SummerSlam approaching.
For the past few months, CM Punk has been embroiled in a feud with Drew McIntyre, despite Punk not being medically cleared to wrestle.
On tonight’s WWE Raw, a number of big updates were confirmed, starting with one from Punk himself.
With CM Punk alone in the ring, he announced:
“I saw my surgeon on Saturday night, and he said I’M CLEARED!”
Shortly after that, Drew McIntyre and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce both came out into the arena for yet another major announcement.
Pearce confirmed that CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre is officially set for SummerSlam, as long as neither man touches the other before then.
However, that wasn’t all, as there was a follow-up from Pearce and a big addition to the match.
Pearce brought out Seth Rollins, who announced he’ll be the special guest referee for CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam on August 3.
Another addition to SummerSlam earlier saw confirmation of Bron Breakker challenging Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship.
