A WWE star is aiming to “rewrite history” at WrestleMania 40 by winning an upcoming match.

On this week’s Raw (March 11) a gauntlet match will take place to determine the new number one contender for GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40.
The stacked field for the match consist of Chad Gable, Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura, JD McDonagh, Sami Zayn and Ricochet, with all six men aiming to secure a coveted spot on the card in Philadelphia.
While all six men have their own motivations to earn that spot, perhaps no other has quite the personal investment in dethroning GUNTHER quite like Chad Gable.

Gable competed in a pair of matches with The Ring General throughout the late Summer/early autumn, but would ultimately fall short.
Now, ahead of the match Gable has attempted to summarise his emotions heading into Raw in a new well-produced video on Twitter.

Gable referenced his previous bout with GUNTHER, and earning the chance to re-write the outcome to that bout:
“I’ve been running the gauntlet in my own head since that match with GUNTHER last September. Trust me, the only tears you want to wipe off your child’s face are tears of joy.
“But if I want that chance a new gauntlet stands in front of me, my path to heaven runs straight through a gauntlet of hell. A gauntlet full of demon’s from my past that I’m going to have to overcome this time in order to earn my date with destiny. My date with redemption.
“It’s a rare chance to re-write history, we don’t get those every day. So I intend to claim it and become a beacon of perseverance that my fans and my family can be proud of.
“So I will endure, because for Chad Gable this match just means more.”

If Gable can pull off a massive win in the gauntlet it would be his very first singles match at WrestleMania in his career.
Elsewhere on Raw, Liv Morgan takes on number one contender to the Women’s World Championship Becky Lynch, and The Kabuki Warriors defend their Women’s Tag Team Titles against Zoey Stark & Shayna Baszler.
