A top AEW star has been handed surprisingly favorable odds to win the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble according to BetOnline.
With the highly-anticipated 37th annual Royal Rumble just under two weeks away, fans are having a hard time deciding who will come out on top in both the 30 men’s and women’s matches.
Names such as CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, GUNTHER and even The Rock are being batted around as likeliest winners of the men’s match, however, it seems that not far behind them is someone who seems massively unlikely to be in the match whatsoever.
That man being: former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
According to BetOnline, MJF is the seventh favorite to win the men’s Rumble with odds of +1000, which sees him tied with Drew McIntyre and Jey Uso.
Not only that but that sees MJF placed as more likely to win than 10-time former world champion Brock Lesnar, Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn also.
For those curious, BetOnline currently have CM Punk as outright favorite to win at +150, GUNTHER behind him at +300 and Cody Rhodes at +400.
Between Rhodes and MJF are two of Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship challengers at the Rumble: LA Knight (+500) and Randy Orton (+600); with The Rock placed only sixth favorite to win (+600), despite all the talk of a potential mega match with the Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40.
MJF has often talked up a potential move to WWE in his time playing a heel; constantly referencing the ‘bidding war of 2024’ and his AEW contract running out on January 1.
While there is a belief from many that MJF had already re-signed with AEW as far back as around Full Gear 2022, the company and MJF himself have played up the fact that his contract is up.

Despite all of this there have currently been no recent reports of MJF actually moving to WWE or making a return to AEW TV; instead suggesting that the Long Island native could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.
