In the opening bout of tonight’s AEW Dynamite, a spot in the ladder match to determine the currently vacant TNT Championship was on the line.

On Dynamite, Dustin Rhodes took on Jack Perry for the chance to enter the upcoming TNT Championship ladder match.
After Adam Copeland was injured at AEW Double or Nothing, the TNT Championship was vacated and a new champ will be determined via a ladder match at Forbidden Door.
Already qualified for the match prior to tonight were Mark Briscoe and Konosuke Takeshita.

Perry picked up the win against Rhodes, meaning he joins those two and three more entrants to be confirmed.
Before the match, The Elite (Kazuchika Okada, the Young Bucks and Jack Perry) made an offer to Swerve Strickland to join their team in an upcoming Blood and Guts match.
No further details regarding the Blood and Guts match was given beyond Nicholas Jackson saying it was happening and The Elite was one side of it, looking for an additional member to make their team up to five men instead of four.

Also on tonight’s show, after RUSH picked up a victory, his post-match beatdown on his local opponent was interrupted by MJF.
It led to a backstage brawl between the two as it was announced that they will face off in a match to open next week’s AEW Dynamite.
