AEW World Tag Team Champion Matthew Jackson of The Elite has recalled “overpowering feeling” during Blood & Guts Match.

On the July 24 edition of AEW Dynamite, Team AEW’s Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, The Acclaimed and Darby Allin defeated The Elite to win the Blood & Guts match. This marked the first time since Briscoe had wrestled The Young Bucks since signing with AEW/ROH.
The Briscoe Brothers and Young Bucks had a long standing rivalry from their time in Ring of Honor and across the independent wrestling scene for years.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks discussed how it felt to wrestle Mark Briscoe for the first time since the passing of his brother Jay Briscoe. Nicholas said:
“We wrestled The Briscoes so many times,”
“It felt really good to wrestle Mark. When he was hitting those Jay Drillers on all of us, I knew Jay was smiling. I was feeling pain by then, but I still kind of smiled a bit during that moment.”

On having so many memories from his time working with The Briscoes during the bout, Matthew said:
“Wrestling Mark, it was like old times,”
“It brought back so many memories of years past. For a stretch of time, it seemed like we wrestled every other weekend at an independent show or a Ring of Honor event. We developed such a camaraderie and rivalry.”
“Out there at Blood & Guts, I was reminded of the amazing chemistry we have. It’s like lightning in a bottle, a type of magic you only have with a very few select opponents.”

Recalling how he felt following the match and knowing he will never be able to wrestle Jay Briscoe again, Matthew stated:
“I felt Jay out there with us,”
“I couldn’t stop thinking about him. It was such an overpowering feeling.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson also addressed Jack Perry’s AEW Blood & Guts chair shot controversy, which you can read at this link.
