A former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and current NJPW star has issued a challenge to Tony Khan ahead of next month’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
Forbidden Door 2024 will emanate from New York’s UBS Arena on June 30. AEW and NJPW stars are set to meet in the ring, as part of the two promotions’ ongoing relationship.
One of the top names currently appearing for both companies is Jon Moxley, who holds NJPW’s top title, the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Moxley is set to face Konosuke Takeshita at this month’s AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 26 in a match where if Takeshita wins, he will earn a future match for Moxley’s gold.
EVIL, who’s slated to challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at NJPW Dominion on June 9, isn’t too pleased with Tony Khan making this match.
The current #1 contender has now called out Tony Khan, telling him to stand in front of him at Forbidden Door.
In an interview with Tokyo Sports, EVIL first sent a message to Jon Moxley:
“Moxley, don’t lose on purpose because you’re scared of standing in front of me, okay? I’m just going to let you know that there’s no escape for you anyway.”
Evil then turned his attention to Tony Khan, stating:
“You can do whatever you want, and I won’t shut up either. The president of a not-so-large organization shouldn’t be pretending to be my equal. My company and yours are on a different level.
“You don’t seem to understand your position, so why don’t I educate you once? Hey, stand in front of me (at Forbidden Door). Next time, don’t wear a corset. You and I are on a different level.”
Khan was recently attacked by The Elite, with the Young Bucks, Jack Perry and Kazuchika Okada standing over him on the April 24 edition of Dynamite.
EVIL previously held the IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental titles simultaneously for 48 days in 2020. These two belts were later unified to become the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in 2021.
