A new championship open challenge is seemingly set for the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

At today’s NJPW Dominion show, NJPW World Television Champion Jeff Cobb retained his championship against Tomohiro Ishii.
Following the show, Cobb cut a promo at the post-show press conference, where he acknowledged ‘Forbidden Door season’, and put out an open challenge for his title for the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view event.

Also at today’s Dominion show, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley retained his championship against EVIL.
After the match, Moxley was confronted by the former champion Tetsuya Naito, who challenged Moxley to a match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship on the show.

Cobb has made numerous appearances on AEW television in the past, most recently on the May 15 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he and Kyle Fletcher teamed up in a losing effort to the Blackpool Combat Club’s Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley.
Fellow United Empire stablemate Will Ospreay is set to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door.
