A new report has revealed details on Mercedes Mone’s status with WWE, AEW and NJPW/STARDOM.
The wrestling world has been speculating where multi-time WWE Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, will land next.
Mone is among the top free agents in all of professional wrestling with various promotions reportedly interested in bringing “The Boss” in.
Following a recent report that AEW has no active plans for Mercedes, talk of her potential return to WWE has heated up among fans.
Per Fightful Select, AEW sources indicated that the two sides were set to work together once Mone was no longer injured at the time she appeared in the audience at All In London.
However, those plans were no longer active at the beginning of December, and the two sides were far apart on terms. It was not confirmed whether that pertained to dates, schedule, financial terms or booking.
The report notes that it was not indicated that this means the door is closed there between Mercedes Mone and AEW. There were rumors of Mercedes being brought in around AEW Grand Slam 2023, but the company shut those down as she was still injured.
As for NJPW, Rocky Romero was hopeful as of November that NJPW and STARDOM could resume talks with Mone soon.
There was still some interest on Mone’s side in appearing for the promotions again following her injury in May 2023. Obviously, New Japan Pro Wrestling wants her back due to it being a very successful relationship.
The report also notes that Mercedes Mone is not currently signed to NJPW, STARDOM or both promotions’ parent company, Bushiroad.
JJA Sport Studio will provide further updates on Mercedes Mone’s status with AEW and NJPW/STARDOM when they become available.
