AEW World Champion MJF has provided an update on his status ahead of his AEW contract expiring.
During MJF’s heel run, the star would often talk about the ‘bidding war of 2024’, arguing that he’d have numerous companies interested in him ahead of his AEW deal expiring in January 2024.
While MJF hasn’t talked about his plans for this bidding war much over the last few months, we’re less than two weeks away from January 1.
Speaking on the SI Media podcast, MJF stated that he hasn’t yet signed a new deal with AEW.
Admitting that he wants to stay with AEW, MJF said:
“I’ve been saying the same thing (about my contract expiration date). I never lied. January 1st, 2024.
“When stuff like that gets leaked out, it makes me laugh because I remember something leaked out about Cody (Rhodes) having secretly re-signed and then he showed up (in WWE). Something got leaked out about, you know, CM Punk and Tony Khan or you know…
“I think fans leak out things that they want to be true. I love AEW, I wanna stay in AEW. After this pay-per-view (Worlds End), it’s time to assess the situation for a professional setting. So… not yet (I haven’t re-signed).
MJF is set to defend his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe at the upcoming Worlds End pay-per-view.
AEW Worlds End will emanate from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on December 30, just days before MJF’s current contract ends.
