A top AEW star is set to miss 6-12 months of in-ring action due to a recent surgery they had on their ankle.

Kota Ibushi was officially announced as All Elite following last year’s Blood & Guts match, where he served as the final member of the Elite’s team against the Blackpool Combat Club in the titular match.
Ibushi has not wrestled since January 2, where he took part in a match for Pro Wrestling NOAH, wrestling Naomichi Marufuji.

Ibushi suffered a broken ankle early in the match, but proceeded to continue the match for 30 minutes before eventually being taken to hospital after the match.
Ibushi underwent surgery on his injury on January 16, and we now know how long he is expected to be out of action.

Per Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ibushi is slated to be out for 6-12 months following his surgery.
Ibushi’s last match for AEW took place on November 15 in the Like A Dragon Gaijin Street Fight, where he, Paul Wight, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kyle Fletcher and Brian Cage.
We wish Kota a full and complete recovery from his surgery.
