AEW star Eddie Kingston suffered a legitimate leg injury during his recent Last Man Standing match against Gabe Kidd in NJPW.

The match took place at NJPW Resurgence on May 11, 2024, with Kingston losing the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship.
In the aftermath of the match, it was reported that “Kingston’s legs landed on the barricade” with the AEW star “favoring his right leg” afterwards.
PWInsider has now reported further details of Kingston’s status, revealing he will need surgery.
According to PWInsider, not only did Kingston sustain a tubular fracture, but he also tore his ACL and meniscus.

The extent of the injuries will require him to undergo surgery to repair the damage, with rehab to follow.
As the report notes, Kingston had originally hoped to return for AEW All In in London, England on August 25, 2024.
However, post-surgery recovery is likely to mean that Kingston’s return will be “closer to nine months” away.

With a likely return date of January 2025, Kingston commented to PWInsider that:
“This part of the game. Injuries happen. I will be back.”

Kingston recently broke his silence on social media, posting a photo of himself in a wheelchair with his leg in a restraint.
We wish Kingston all the best for his recovery.
