An update has emerged on an absent AEW star’s status, with the star discussed for a return to TV after months away.

Hikaru Shida hasn’t wrestled for a Tony Khan brand since early-April, with her last in-ring appearance for AEW coming nearly five months ago.
Per Fightful Select, there have been “creative discussions” for Shida’s potential upcoming return.
Shida last wrestled at the April 5 ROH Supercard of Honor event, unsuccessfully challenging for Athena’s ROH Women’s Championship.

Athena is still the ROH Women’s Champion, having held the gold for over 500 days, since December 2022.
Shida hasn’t wrestled on AEW TV since competing at the January 10 (aired January 12) Rampage taping almost five months ago, with the former AEW Women’s Champion defeating Queen Aminata in singles action.
Hikaru Shida was notably AEW’s third women’s champion, defeating Nyla Rose for the gold in May 2020 and holding the title for 372 days.

Her second reign with the championship wasn’t as long, with the Japanese star defeating champion Toni Storm on Dynamite on April 2, 2023, before dropping the gold to Saraya later that month at All In London.
Shida’s most recent AE Women’s Title reign saw her dethrone Saraya in October 2023, and lose the championship to current champion Toni Storm the following month.
