Vacant AEW championship plans update

On tonight’s AEW Dynamite there was another qualifying match to enter a ladder match at Forbidden Door for the TNT Championship.

Christopher Daniels appeared on screen (noted again as ‘Interim EVP’) to introduce another qualifying match.
Since Adam Copeland had to vacate the TNT Championship after being injured at Double or Nothing, it had previously been announced a new champ would be determined via a ladder match at Forbidden Door.
On tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Brian Cage faced off against Mark Briscoe.

Beating Brian Cage and qualifying for the ladder match at Forbidden Door for the vacant TNT Championship, Mark Briscoe will join the field.
The other confirmed participant, Konosuke Takeshita, watched the match from the crowd with Don Callis.
Also shown backstage insincerely clapping for Briscoe’s win, Jack Perry who would go on to cut a promo to the camera on why he cannot be stopped.

Saying ‘the Universe has chosen me’, Perry asserted that he would be becoming the next TNT Champion.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, Dynamite kicked off with a promo segment from MJF.
