AEW’s FTW Champion Chris Jericho has responded to claims from fans that he ‘buries’ younger wrestlers in the company.

During his time in AEW, the Learning Tree has often been criticised by fans online who believe that he is ‘burying’ younger wrestlers in the company when he works with them, with them believing they leave the ‘Jericho Vortex’ worse off than before.
Jericho has taken a lot of criticism from fans online and used them as part of his new ‘Learning Tree’ character, and he has now responded to the claims he buries younger talent.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Jericho commented on wanting to work with Big Bill ahead of the Learning Tree being born, noting that he wants to give wrestlers another way to learn.

He said:
“I think Big Bill is great–I loved him as Cass and I wanted to work with him. Tony Khan suggested Bryan Keith, and the bad apple character was born. The chemistry is great, and we’re putting a spotlight on something new–and that gives us some great stories to tell.
“I’ve been accused of burying young talent. Even go back to my last run in WWE, I was working with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and Seth Rollins. I wanted to give them another way to learn, and I learned from them, too. That’s all I’ve done in AEW. Working early on with Hangman and Darby and Scorpio Sky and Jungle Boy and Orange Cassidy and MJF–who became a smarter and better wrestler, this is what I love to do.”

Jericho is currently in a feud with HOOK on AEW television, with him returning to AEW television on this week’s Dynamite show.
