A top British independent star rumored to be signing with AEW has now dropped his championship, fuelling speculation about his next move.
Michael Oku has impressively found himself tied to a top AEW feud without wrestling on AEW TV.
Oku notably defeated Will Ospreay in Ospreay’s final match before officially joining AEW, forcing Ospreay to submit after a 47 minute match of the year contender at February’s RevPro High Stakes event.
Ospreay’s AEW All In opponent MJF has since faced off against Oku, defending his AEW American Championship against the Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion at the RevPro Summer Sizzler event earlier this month.
Following Oku confirming that he has had talks with Tony Khan, and Oku competing in a dark match at the Cardiff, Wales AEW Dynamite taping, it has been heavily speculated that Oku will join AEW full-time.
Michael Oku has now lost his Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship, fuelling rumors about his future.
Oku put the gold on the line against independent standout Luke Jacobs at Saturday’s (August 24) RevPro 12 Year Anniversary Show. Jacobs – already the PROGRESS World Champion – defeated Michael Oku to end Oku’s 412 day reign with the Undisputed British Heavyweight Title.
Some fans have speculated that Oku could be factored into the All In match between Ospreay and MJF, following the two AEW stars having a confrontation after Oku’s Summer Sizzler match against MJF.
