Former two-time AEW World Tag Team Champion Cash Wheeler has named two WWE Hall of Famers as his “wrestling parents”.

The FTR member made the comments during a recent appearance on Close Up with Renee Paquette, identifying Adam Copeland and Beth Phoenix.
Phoenix was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017 with Copeland, the former Edge, having been inducted in 2012.

Speaking to Paquette about the stars who have taken care of him, Wheeler said:
“Adam and Beth have been my wrestling parents for 12, 13 years now.
“I met Adam when he first moved to Asheville, [North Carolina] in 2009 actually. We became friends over time.

“He was still world champion, all these things, and he took the time to give me advice without me even having to ask him. He just wanted to help.
“Before I ever had anything to offer those people, they went out of their way to make sure I was learning and had stuff. They took care of me. That’s just what they do.
“Then eventually him and Beth got together. I was there for the beginning of their relationship, so cute. Adam was like ‘I think Beth likes me.’”

Wheeler was wrestling on the independent scene back in 2009 and would sign with WWE in 2014, debuting as Dash Wilder where he would team with Scott Dawson, now Dax Harwood in AEW.
Harwood and Wheeler would debut in AEW in May 2020 with Copeland joining the company in October 2023 after 25 years in WWE.
Phoenix departed WWE in July 2024 having made her last in-ring appearance at the February 2023 Elimination Chamber event.
Following her departure from WWE, Phoenix revealed that she was unsure whether she would have another wrestling match.
