A former AEW star returned to the company for his first singles match since 2021 on tonight’s episode of Collision.

After AEW Collision began with an in-ring interview segment featuring FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vowing to continue to seek revenge on the Elite, there was the first match.
The opening bout featured Roderick Strong taking on NJPW star Lio Rush after both competed in the Casino Gauntlet match on AEW Dynamite Wednesday.

The bout marks Lio Rush’s first ever singles match on AEW television, having previously appeared on Dark back in 2021 in his only previous AEW singles match.
After a competitive match, Rush would end up losing to Strong.

Perhaps enlivened by the victory, Roderick Strong would go on to march past an interview with Lexy Nair backstage and go directly to the CEO & President Tony Khan himself.
In the segment, Roderick Strong would shout his plea for why he deserved an AEW World Title shot (including praising Tony Khan for being ‘Neck Strong’ as well) and was successful in his request.
Tony Khan made it official, on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday June 5, Roderick Strong will take on Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
