A date for the hotly anticipated showdown between Nigel McGuinness and AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson looks to have been revealed.

While the originally announced match between Darby Allin and Bryan Danielson was earlier in the night revealed to be canceled via Jon Moxley, there was a vacancy in Danielson’s schedule.
Despite being victim to a vicious assault at AEW All Out where he was choked by Moxley, Bryan Danielson had a longtime rival lurking in the shadows.
In an in-ring segment towards the end of tonight’s Dynamite, Nigel McGuinness made a big announcement.
After being shown backstage earlier in the show approaching Christopher Daniels and saying he needed to speak to Tony Khan, it seems the conversation had occurred.

According to Nigel McGuinness, Tony Khan has approved a big match to be added to AEW Grand Slam.
Bryan Danielson will be taking on Nigel McGuinness in a match that is years in the making – even though commentary noted it’ll only happen “if” Danielson is cleared and able to compete, an official graphic was shown on-screen.
With Nigel having recently made his in-ring return at AEW All In and Danielson’s in-ring career seemingly winding down, the time for the end to their rivalry is now.

McGuinness essentially dares Danielson to meet him for the match at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 25.
Danielson was earlier described as being at home recuperating with his family and Wheeler Yuta by his side.
As noted earlier, rather than Darby Allin facing Danielson, Allin will now be up against Jon Moxley with Allin’s future world title shot on the line.
