An update has emerged on WWE plans surrounding CM Punk, following recent suggestions that he could be set to take on a new role.

With CM Punk tearing his tricep in the Royal Rumble match, the former WWE Champion won’t be wrestling anytime soon.
There has been a lot of speculation about how WWE will use Punk while he’s injured, with Ace Steel recently indicating that WWE wants Punk to do commentary.
As Punk has reportedly been visiting the Performance Center recently some fans had predicted that Punk would replace Booker T as an NXT commentator while Booker T is recovering from his medical procedure.

It was also rumored that Punk could report to the Performance Center to help coach WWE’s younger stars while he’s recovering from his injury.
This won’t be the case, as per Fightful Select, Punk is not expected to be at the WWE Performance Center for the next few weeks. It was also noted that there has been no real discussion about Punk doing commentary, and that Ace Steel’s comments were more of a suggestion.

It was noted that Byron Saxton, who filled in for Booker T on Tuesday’s (February 6) edition of NXT, will be on commentary for the duration of Booker T’s time off.
With Punk undergoing surgery last week, the injured star has now provided an update on his rehab, which you can read about right here.
