Former WWE star charged with second-degree murder

At 9:52am authorities were called to the home of Haynes after gunshots were heard from 6000 SE 100th Avenue in the Lents area of Portland, OR.
A two-hour standoff between the 70-year-old and police ensued, with authorities warning neighbours in the area to remain indoors.
Haynes was eventually taken into custody, with his wife Janette Becraft, 85 found dead inside the home, with medical examination later confirming that the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
Despite being apprehended on February 8, Haynes was not initially charged due to having suffered an unrelated medical issue and being ‘hospitalised following his initial arrest.

However, following his release from hospital yesterday afternoon (February 28), Haynes was immediately charged with Second-Degree Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon in relation to the death of his wife weeks prior.
Haynes is now being held in Multnomah County Detention Center in Portland, OR.
During his wrestling career, which spanned 13 years, Haynes competed for a range of promotions across the world including the WWE, NWA, NJPW and USWA.

In WWE, Haynes competed at the landmark WrestleMania III event, facing off with Hercules Hernandez.
Following his departure in 1988, Haynes would later work for rival company WCW, wrestling under a mask under the name Black Blood before officially retiring from active competition in 1996.
