The latest update on Drew McIntyre’s WWE status following his World Heavyweight Championship victory and loss at WrestleMania 40.

Drew McInytre finally captured a world championship infront of live fans at WrestleMania 40, when he defeated Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship in the opening match of night two of the show on Sunday night.
However, Drew was only champion for five minutes, as CM Punk laid him out following the win, allowing Damian Priest to cash in his Money In The Bank contract, becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion.
McIntyre’s match came amid ongoing contract speculation around McIntyre, with his current deal currently slated to expire in a few months.
In an update from Fightful Select, McIntyre has told talent and those close to him that he has still not signed a new contract with the company.

However, even though this is not customary of the previous eras in the company, it’s not a cause for alarm among the new regime, with it becoming quite comment.
Fightful was told that each situation would be different, and that there are plans for Drew in the company, and they plan on keeping him around.
Drew has been building to a major match with CM Punk on both TV and social media over the past few months, as well as WWE announcing the return of Clash at the Castle in Scotland in June.

McIntyre’s contract was originally set to be up before WrestleMania 40, but time was added to his deal, with it now expected to be up within the next few months.
However, Drew has expressed both his desire to remain with the company, as well as his confidence to succeed outside of it should need be.
The rivalry between Punk and McIntyre had more heat added to it on this week’s Raw show, when Punk cost Drew the opportunity to challenge Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship.
