A new report has revealed details of the injury that Drew McIntyre has been working through in WWE, seemingly since WrestleMania 40.
As recently reported, McIntyre worked the recent WWE tour with a “badly hyperextended elbow.”
Dave Meltzer has provided some further information on McIntyre’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio, confirming:
“He’s hurting, hyperextended elbow. Badly hyperextended elbow.”
As previously noted, the injury was suspected to have happened during McIntyre’s match against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 on April 7, 2024.
The match saw McIntyre become WWE World Heavyweight Champion only to lose the title to Damian Priest shortly afterwards thanks to his Money in the Bank cash-in.
A hyperextended elbow occurs when one of the joints in the elbow bends backwards and beyond the normal range of motion, according to WebMD.
After WrestleMania 40, McIntyre took part in a Fatal 4-Way match to determine the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Number 1 Contender which was won by Jey Uso on the April 8 episode of Raw.
The recent WWE Live tour saw McIntyre face Jey Uso across four nights in the United Kingdom, with matches taking place in Birmingham, Cardiff, London and Belfast.
Last week, it was reported that McIntyre’s WWE contract is set to expire in the ‘5-6 week range‘.
