A long absent WWE star is “hopeful” of a return to the company in the future, 16 months on from her last appearance.

On November 8, 2023, WWE star Carmella and SmackDown’s lead commentator Corey Graves celebrated the birth of their son Dimitri Paul Polinsky.
Since then there has been very little news on if/when the former SmackDown Women’s Champion will be returning to active competition in WWE.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet Carmella was asked about a return to WWE, in which she revealed she was optimistic about a return.
However, due to suffering nerve damage during the delivery of her son those plans are not imminent just now, with 36-year-old currently dealing with issues with her back and foot.

Carmella explained:
“I would love to return. Obviously I’m so immersed in this motherhood world right now, but honestly I actually have an injury from delivery, so I have a lot of nerve damage that happened, and my foot is kind of non-functional right now.
“Something that I never knew could happen during labor and delivery. But I have two herniated discs in my back, and that’s correlated to my foot, so I haven’t even been able to work out, haven’t been able to do anything that will get me back to the ring quite yet.”
“Hopefully eventually I’ll get there, but right now I’m just kind of working, I’m gonna be in physical therapy and things like that. I’ve been wrestling for 11 years, I’ve never been injured, knock on wood, and now here I have a baby and I’m going to physical therapy, so I don’t know how that works out but here we go.”

This year marks Carmella’s 10th anniversary of her arrival in WWE, with her first match in the company coming in June 2014.
JJA Sport Studio wishes Carmella all the best in her ongoing recovery and will provide further updates on a potential return as/when they become available.
