Randy Orton has now addressed his WWE return on SmackDown, ahead of Clash at the Castle 2024.

The Viper made his return to save Kevin Owens from an attack at the hands of the Bloodline on the June 14 SmackDown episode.
In a WWE digital exclusive interview following the show, Randy Orton noted that he wanted to visit Scotland and help Kevin Owens out.

Initially unsure about his relationship with Owens, Orton noted:
“I think we’re getting there. We got a little ways to go. Listen, out of nowhere is kind of my thing, so I figured tonight, we’re in Scotland, I love Scotland.
“Hell, Drew’s from Scotland, I love Drew, what can I say? I just figured I’d come all the way over here and I would help my friend, acquaintance, buddy, whatever you want to call it.”

Randy Orton later clarified that he and Owens are indeed friends, stating:
“I want to correct my earlier statement. We are friends. I’m trying to play it cool. What can I say? But yeah, we’re friends. I haven’t had many friends around here.”

After the duo noted that they’d headline a Payback pay-per-view with the amount of retribution they aim to receive, Kevin Owens hinted that another match could be added to the Clash at the Castle lineup, noting:
“We could clash still, we’ll think about it.”

This was Orton’s first WWE appearance since losing to GUNTHER in the King of the Ring tournament finals.
Orton and Owens previously teamed up to face off against Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga in a street fight at WWE Backlash.
The Bloodline was ultimately victorious in this match, with a debuting Tonga Loa interfering to help Sikoa and Tama Tonga win.
