WWE legends Ric Flair and John Cena are currently head-to-head when it comes to World Championship reigns, standing at sixteen each.

With Cena planning 2025 as his retirement year, the WWE star has confirmed he will be performing in the ring throughout the year, including at PLEs.
With the possibility of Cena having a least one championship match during the ‘mid-30s to 40s’ number of appearances and a ‘heavy presence‘ as WWE Raw moves to Netflix, the chances of Cena having a title run is far from minimal.
Another major title run would see Cena break the record shared with Ric Flair of sixteen reigns.

During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Flair reflected on the possibility of losing his record, saying:
“You want the honest to God truth? I think so much personally of John Cena. He’s just one of those really great guys, in my opinion. And I’ve known a few.
“In a perfect world, it would be my daughter, which I think would be the biggest thing that could ever happen.
“I told her one time, and she got upset — not upset but she didn’t like the comparison, I said, ‘You’d be as famous as Serena Williams if you broke that record that’s been there for so long.’ She didn’t like the comparison, but she’s as good an athlete as there is alive today.
“But if they do it with John, I have no problem. I’d be the first one to hit the ring and shake his hand.”

Flair did concede, however, to the suggestion that Triple H may not be ready to ‘pull the trigger’ on Flair’s record being broken.
He would go on to give his blessing to his losing the record, suggesting Randy Orton as a potential successor.
