Following several reports regarding their imminent departure, a WWE star’s contract is reportedly set to expire today (August 2).

Earlier this week, veteran WWE star MVP confirmed reports that he was set to depart the company – appearing at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport to announce the news, albeit without mentioning WWE by name.
At the event MVP said that his contract with “the company he worked for” was set to expire, and now we have the answer to when that is exactly, as Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that MVP’s WWE deal expires today.

With MVP’s deal coming to its natural end, the former United States Champion will be free to explore free agency as soon as tomorrow.
While it’s not yet known where MVP will end up next, he did state whilst appearing at Bloodsport that he was not yet ready to retire, suggesting he may be in line for his first matches in over two years.

There has been no new update on the status of MVP’s former stablemate Bobby Lashley, with reports last month suggesting that Lashley, like MVP had been removed from WWE’s internal roster – with the two keen to reunite The Hurt Business in AEW along with Shelton Benjamin.
JJA Sport Studio will provide further update on the futures of both Lashley and MVP as/when they become available.
