The August 5 episode of WWE Raw was set to see Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai face Sonya Deville in singles action.
As can be seen in the video below this news story, Kai didn’t make it the ring, suffering a backstage attack from Deville, Zoey Star and Shayna Baszler.
The reasons for the backstage attack have now been revealed by Dave Meltzer during Wrestling Observer Radio.
Addressing the two major unexpected attacks that took place on WWE Raw, Meltzer revealed:
“Remember on Monday we were talking about Seth and Dakota? It was done for injury reasons… I don’t know how serious.
“I asked if they were storyline covers for injuries and I was told they both were.”
Meltzer would go on to discuss Rollins’ injury in more detail, confirming it ‘is not a bad situation’.
At the time of writing, there are no further details as to the nature of Kai’s injury.
