A substantial update has emerged following recent rumors that Brock Lesnar could be making a return to WWE.

This past Monday on Raw (taped a week earlier), Cody Rhodes seemingly referenced Lesnar, when he told GUNTHER that he’d already “slain a frightening beast”, which was taken as a reference to Rhodes’ big win over Lesnar at SummerSlam last year.
Since then, some outlets had claimed that Lesnar was in talks for a return and that story ended up spreading on social media.
SummerSlam is actually the last time we saw Lesnar in WWE, as a return earlier this year for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season was canceled.
Lesnar was referenced in the sex trafficking and abuse lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon, WWE and John Laurinaitis just before the Rumble, and WWE subsequently pulled Lesnar from creative plans.

He was originally scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio at Elimination Chamber and GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40.
Nonetheless, WWE CCO Paul Levesque (Triple H) has not ruled out a return for Lesnar when he’s been asked about it, and he is still listed on the WWE website roster page, and has never been removed from it – despite inaccurate claims months ago that he’d been “added back”, he was actually never removed.
Lesnar was also removed from being a playable character in the WWE 2K24 video game that came out in March.

Fightful Select has provided a real update on Lesnar’s status, reporting that the idea he’s been in talks with WWE and a return is on the cards was shot down by “high level” sources in WWE.
One high-up source stated:
“There are no creative plans in place for Lesnar, and if conversations have occurred, we’ve not been briefed on that.”

The report notes that it was a specific rule in WWE over the past few months that Brock Lesnar was “not to be brought up in video packages, mentioned on promos, or referenced by commentary if it could be avoided”.
A source in creative also said that they’ve not heard an update on Brock Lesnar in months and they’d be surprised if he was brought back while the federal investigation into McMahon and WWE is ongoing.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates that aren’t just the unsubstantiated rumors and claims that periodically do the rounds on social media.
