An update has been provided on plans for an upcoming match featuring Mercedes Mone, with clarification provided on potential changes.

A huge winner takes all title match was recently confirmed for AEW Forbidden Door, with AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone and NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer set to put their gold on the line on June 30.
While it was previously noted that Mercedes Mone will be defending her TBS Championship ahead of Forbidden Door, it has now been announced that Vaquer will also be putting her gold on the line ahead of the crossover pay-per-view, with Vaquer to defend the NJPW STRONG Women’s Title against La Catalina at CMLL Fantastica Mania Mexico.
While there was some speculation that La Catalina could face Mone at Forbidden Door if she were to dethrone Vaquer, Tony Khan has now clarified that the match will remain Mone vs Vaquer, regardless of any title losses.

Noting that the bout will be for the TBS Championship only if Vaquer loses to Catalina, Khan tweeted:

Mercedes Mone will defend her TBS Championship against Zeuxis on next Wednesday’s (June 12) Dynamite episode.
Khan previously confirmed that if Mone loses her title, the Forbidden Door bout would be for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship only.
While it hasn’t been confirmed, this would suggest that if both women are dethroned ahead of Forbidden Door, Mone and Vaquer will face off in non-title action.
Mone won the TBS Championship from Willow Nightingale at AEW Double or Nothing in her in-ring return and AEW in-ring debut.
