Eddie Kingston has revealed his plans for the Triple Crown Title if he wins the AEW Continental Classic tournament.
The stakes of the AEW Continental Classic were significantly raised when Eddie Kingston decided to put up his ROH World Championship and NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship in the tournament.
This led to Tony Khan announcing that the two titles would be combined with the newly minted AEW Continental Championship to make the modern-day North American Triple Crown Championship.
Despite an 0-2 start in the tournament, Kingston is still alive and has a chance to possibly make it to the league finals if he can defeat Andrade El Idolo on the December 23 edition of AEW Collision.
Speaking to Tim & Eli on Battleground podcast, Eddie Kingston was asked if he was looking to defend the title in multiple promotions if he were to win the tournament. He answered:
“That’s the goal, but not my show. I would love, when I do win, I would like to defend all three belts together as one as the Triple Crown, but I would also like to do it separately, as well.”
“Defend the Continental just by itself or Ring of Honor by itself or Strong Openweight as itself, but also together. Would I like to go to New Japan and do it? Of course.”
“Would I like, if my body lets me, it’s not the schedule, it’s my body. If my body lets me, I would love to go to certain independents like DEFY and AIW and other places I wish,”
“I’m not trying to be an a**hole, I just can’t remember, my brain is trying to name all the Indies. HOG in New York. If my body is willing, I would love to do it.”
“When I do win, that’s my goal, to defend all three at once and also all three separately. New Japan would be fun. That would be fun,”
This Saturday’s AEW Collision will also feature Bryan Danielson vs. Claudio Castagnoli and Brody King vs. Daniel Garcia in the Blue League of the AEW Continental Classic.
The top two in the Blue League will meet in the league finals on next Wednesday’s December 27 episode of AEW Dynamite.
