Following his recent match on Collision, a new report has provided an update on AEW/ROH star Dalton Castle’s injury.
On the July 13 edition of AEW Collision, Roderick Strong defeated Dalton Castle to become the number one contender for the Ring of Honor World Championship. During the course of the bout, Castle suffered an injury that has caused him to miss the rest of 2024.
Despite previous reports that he was knocked out on the finish of the match, it seems Castle suffered an even more significant injury.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez reported that Dalton Castle suffered a separate injury during the match besides legitimately being knocked out on the finish. He said:
“Dalton Castle, the reason that he is out for the rest of the year, is that he suffered a different injury in that match and needs surgery.”
“So, it was not a result of the knockout, although he did get knocked out. But apparently they checked him out and even though he was knocked unconscious, they did not diagnose him with a concussion.”
“But he did suffer a different injury, so that’s why he’s gonna be out for the rest of the year.”
“So it wasn’t a broken orbital bone or a bad concussion or anything like that, it was something completely unrelated to the flying knee.”
Thanks to his win, Strong will now challenge Mark Briscoe for the ROH World Title this Friday, July 26 at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
