Randy Orton has addressed the career-threatening injury diagnosis he received when he was away from WWE in-ring action in 2022 and 2023.
Orton returned to in-ring action after an 18-month absence at WWE Survivor Series WarGames in November 2023.
The announcement of his return was made on the November 20 episode of WWE, five days before the PLE saw him join Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Jey Uso and Sami Zayn to take on Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh) and Drew McIntyre in the men’s WarGames match.

During his absence, Randy Orton had been dealing with back issues with reports throughout that time signalling that he may have had to bring his wrestling career to an end.
Orton has now commented on how close he was to having to quit in an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge, revealing:
“I had top neurologists telling me that, ‘You know what, you had a great career, you have a life after wrestling, and you wanna be comfortable. You don’t wanna be in pain the rest of your life. We’re gonna fix your back, but you’re gonna have to stop wrestling’.
“The first six months that I was out, I had that in the back of my head, and it was tough. It was mentally very challenging.”
The Viper has recently discussed his future in WWE, revealing that he’d “love to be able to go until (his) 50’s.”
He also revealed that he had been “in pain through (his) entire 30’s” and feels “so great” after his spinal fusion surgery.
