WWE is seeking a stronger presence on the international stage with plans to tie into the popularity of UFC as a training platform.
With WWE heading to Mexico for a SuperShow Summer Tour, news has emerged of plans to increase their presence in the region.
Dave Meltzer revealed details of the plans in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:
WWE is very much interested in a stronger presence in Mexico.
While this hasn’t happened yet, one idea they have is to work with UFC, which has its Performance Institute in Mexico City to develop Mexican fighters and try to expand it to include pro wrestlers, with the idea of getting people who want to be wrestlers who would gravitate toward the CMLL schools or other schools and see a way to have a path into WWE without having to spend years in Mexico and make a name on indies in the US.
Dana White opened the UFC Performance Institute in an official ceremony that took place in February 2024.
In his tweet, which can be seen below this news story, the President of UFC wrote:

It follows the opening of similar facilities in Las Vegas and Shanghai with the Mexico facility offering a full-time academy.
According to the UFC article on the opening of the Mexico facility, the academy will host 20 students, growing to 25 in year three of the program.
WWE returns to Mexico on July 13 & 14 for their SuperShow Summer Tour.
July 13 takes place at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City with July 14 taking place at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey.
