A big update has emerged on Kota Ibushi, with the Japanese star set to return to DDT Pro later this month.

With Ibushi suffering ankle injuries during his match against Naomichi Marufuji at the January 2 Pro Wrestling NOAH The New Year show, the popular star’s wrestling future seemed uncertain.
After making a surprise return to the ring for an five minute exhibition bout, Ibushi’s first official match back has been announced.

Ibushi will now compete in six-man tag-team action at DDT’s Korakuen Hall show on August 25.
The former NJPW IWGP World Heavyweight Champion will team with Danshoku Dieno and Akito to face off against Tetsuya Endo, Yuki Iino and Yuya Koroku.

This has been billed as Ibushi’s first official match back with DDT Pro since March 2017, when he was in six-man tag team action at the Judgment 2017 show.
Ibushi, who signed an AEW contract in November 2023, hasn’t wrestled for AEW since teaming with Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho and Paul Wight to defeat Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Powerhouse Hobbs and Brian Cage in a street fight on the November 15, 2023 Dynamite episode.
An AEW Dynamite debut has been announced for this week’s episode, which you can read more about right here.
